Police launch Arson Probe After Shanklin Flat Blaze


We can exclusively  reveal that the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police have launched an arson probe  following a servere fire that broke out at a property late on Saturday night in Shanklin.

Police officers are working with fire investigators from Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue following the arson at the property after they were called at just after 10.30pm following a report of a fire at a two-storey property behind a hair dressing salon in the High Street.

We can reveal minutes before the blaze took hold a man under the influence of drink burst into the property that was being rented by a woman and set fire to a sofa within the property that quickly spread to other parts of the building. At the height of the blaze 40 fire fighters from 6 stations battled to stop the fire from spreading to other properties. Fire crews remained at the incident and will do for the rest of the night.
