A murder investigation has been launched following a stabbing in Southgate

Detectives Chief Inspector Neil Rawlinson, the officer leading the investigation, said: “Two men have been arrested by officers investigating a stabbing in Queen Elizabeth’s Drive N14 on Sunday. One of those men remains in police custody.

“The 37-year-old victim was rushed to hospital but sadly he died that afternoon. The man’s family are being supported by specialist officers and I send my sincere condolences to them.”

Detective Chief Superintendent Caroline Haines, the senior Met officer responsible for policing Enfield and Haringey, said: “This is a shocking incident that will no doubt cause concern to the community. I share those concerns, and I can assure local people that dedicated detectives are investigating and we are working at pace with partner organisations to establish exactly what happened and who was responsible.

“Local people will see additional patrols in the Southgate area. Anyone with information or concerns should speak with those officers. They are there to support you.”

Emergency services were called to the incident at 14:04hrs on Sunday, 4 February. Two men, aged 21 and 30, were arrested that afternoon.

The 21-year-old man was arrested by Met officers in a car which was stopped in Hertfordshire. He remains in police custody. The other man has been released without further action.
