An opportunist burglar has been jailed after leaving his fingerprints at a Maidstone break-in

On 4 September 2023, Sean McFetridge was in East Farleigh when he saw the front door of a house had been left open. He quickly entered the premises and after a short while was disturbed by one of the occupants who had been upstairs. Making an excuse about seeking a glass of water due to being thirsty, McFetridge departed after he was told to leave.

The victim soon realised a laptop computer had been stolen along with jewellery and some keys. The police were contacted and an investigation was started by the Kent Crime Squad. Crime Scene Investigators attended and recovered McFetridge’s fingerprints from a socket the laptop had been plugged into whilst charging. Investigators arrested the offender on 7 September and he was charged with burglary.
