Boy, 8, Seriously Injured in Hit-and-Run Incident on Calderwood Street, Woolwich

Police Launch Investigation as Car Involved Fails to Stop

In a distressing incident, an eight-year-old boy was seriously injured in a hit-and-run incident on Calderwood Street, Woolwich. The incident occurred on Monday, July 3, prompting a swift response from the police and emergency services.

Officers from the Met Police were alerted at 2:15pm to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian. London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance also rushed to the scene to provide medical assistance.

The young boy sustained a severe leg injury as a result of the incident and was immediately transported to the hospital. Fortunately, his condition is currently believed to be non-life-threatening and not life-changing.

The vehicle involved in the incident fled the scene, failing to stop and leaving the injured child behind. The Metropolitan Police have initiated an investigation into the hit-and-run and are appealing to the public for any information or witnesses who may have seen the incident.

As the investigation continues, road closures have been put in place to facilitate emergency response and ongoing inquiries.
