Having seized knives, drugs and a firearm from the capital’s streets this weekend, detectives from the Met’s newly formed Violent Crime Taskforce are continuing their work this week. At around 6pm on Monday, 16 April, a man was arrested in Waltham Forest, N17 having been stopped by Violent Crime Taskforce officers on proactive patrols. Upon being searched, the 24-year-old man was found to be in possession of a twin bladed weapon. The knife was seized and the man was taken into custody at an east London police station. Inspector Peter Moxham, form the Violent Crime Taskforce, said: “Quite often, we are patrolling in undercover vehicles and dressed in plain clothes – just because you cannot see us, does not mean we are not around.”
