Defendant Faces Committal for Sentence Following Stalking Charges

James Talbot of High Street, Orpington, Bromley, has been the subject of recent legal proceedings related to stalking charges. At a court hearing at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on January 26, 2024.

Mr Talbot was accused of committing offences as specified under section 4A(1)(a)(b)(ii) and (5) of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997. The charges stemmed from a course of conduct alleged to have taken place between November 14, 2022, and February 22, 2023, in London, Borough of Newham. This course of conduct reportedly involved Mr Talbot going to the victim’s home and engaging in online stalking activities. The victim allegedly suffered serious alarm or distress as a result of Mr Talbot’s actions, which substantially affected her daily life activities.

On January 26, 2024, Mr. Talbot indicated a Guilty plea in response to the charges brought against him. Following this plea, he has been committed to Snaresbrook Crown Court for sentencing on conditional bail. The next hearing in Crown Court is scheduled, with the date and time to be determined.

As part of his bail conditions, Mr. Talbot is subject to various restrictions, including exclusion from contacting individuals directly or indirectly. He is also excluded from entering specific areas, notably the London Borough of Newham, except when travelling directly to or from Snaresbrook Crown Court.

Additionally, a requirement mandates Mr Talbot to keep his mobile phone switched on, fully charged, and on his person 24 hours a day, He is also required to reside and sleep each night at his address, in Orpington BR6 0JY. Furthermore, the exclusion condition is set to be electronically monitored with a GPS tag as part of his bail conditions.
