Dive Expert Peter Faulding Joins River Soar Search for Missing Toddler Xielo Maruziva

In a bid to intensify efforts to find missing toddler Xielo Maruziva, Leicestershire Police have enlisted the expertise of dive specialist Peter Faulding, who previously played a crucial role in locating Nicola Bulley’s body last year.

Peter Faulding’s Specialist Group International (SGI) was instrumental in the search for Nicola Bulley, employing advanced sonar technology that led to the discovery of her remains within minutes. His involvement comes as authorities continue their exhaustive search for two-year-old Xielo, who fell into the River Soar in Leicestershire on February 18.

Mr Faulding’s assistance follows criticism of police handling during the search for Nicola Bulley, prompting Leicestershire Police to collaborate with SGI in the ongoing operation to find Xielo.

Despite extensive efforts involving search teams, helicopters, and specialist rescue units, Xielo remains unaccounted for. The search has been expanded to cover areas around Watermead Park and Birstall, with divers from Nottinghamshire Police and Lincolnshire Police joining the operation.

Assistant Chief Constable Michaela Kerr, leading the search, emphasized the dangerous nature of the river and urged the public not to intervene. She expressed gratitude for the community’s support and emphasized the importance of finding Xielo swiftly.

Xielo’s family, who described him as a cheerful and lively child, have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the community. His parents, in heartfelt statements, pleaded for his safe return, thanking search teams and the public for their assistance.

The search operation, aided by recovered CCTV footage pinpointing the moment Xielo entered the river, continues to evolve, with authorities committed to leaving no stone unturned until Xielo is found.
