Drug dealer jailed after escaping custody

A drug dealer who escaped while in custody has been jailed.

Reece Reddington was initially arrested on 17 March after he made off from officers in Celandine View, Soham, and hid in a garage.

He was spotted throwing a mobile phone in a nearby garden, which contained hundreds of messages relating to drug dealing.

Two days later, while still in custody, being treated in hospital, Reddington ran from the hospital, and despite best efforts from police at the scene, made good his escape.

The 36-year-old, of no fixed address, was arrested two weeks later in Fordham.

At Peterborough Crown Court on Friday (31 May), Reddington was sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to being concerned in the supply of class B drugs and escape from lawful custody.

Detective Constable Jess Freeman, who investigated, said: “Reddington initially ran from officers to evade arrest, and then later, while under arrest, unlawfully left the hospital.

“He’s now got two years to think about the consequences of his actions. There is no place for drug dealing and associated criminality in our county.”
