England Squad Announced

Jack Grealish, Harry Maguire, and James Maddison have been left out of England’s final squad for Euro 2024. Gareth Southgate, the England manager, made the decision to trim the initial 33-man training squad down to 26 players ahead of the tournament in Germany. While inexperienced players like Jarrad Branthwaite, Curtis Jones, James Trafford, and Jarell Quansah also missed out, the exclusions of Grealish, Maddison, and Maguire have garnered the most attention.

Manchester City’s playmaker, Jack Grealish, and Tottenham’s James Maddison both made substitute appearances in the friendly against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Monday, but they have been informed that they will not be part of the squad travelling to Germany.

England Squad Announced

Harry Maguire’s absence could be a significant blow for England, given his crucial role in the team during the last three tournaments. The 31-year-old defender suffered a calf injury in early May, and despite efforts to recover in time for the FA Cup final, he will miss out on the Euros.

Maguire expressed his disappointment on social media, emphasising his deep attachment to representing England. He vowed to support the team as a fan and will focus on preparing for the upcoming club season with Manchester United.

James Maddison also shared his disappointment, acknowledging that his form for Tottenham Hotspur after returning from injury may have influenced Southgate’s decision. Despite feeling devastated, Maddison remains committed to England’s success and hopes they bring home the trophy.

As the England squad prepares for Euro 2024, fans eagerly await the team’s performance in the upcoming tournament, which kicks off on June 16 with England facing Serbia in their opening match.
