In a significant emergency response, six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were dispatched to tackle a fire that broke out at the Tally Ho Pub on High Road in North Finchley. The London Fire Brigade (LFB) reported that the incident began at 11.05am, with the first and second floors of the establishment engulfed in flames.

A quick and coordinated effort by the firefighters brought the blaze under control by 12.22pm, showcasing the brigade’s efficiency and preparedness. Despite the challenging conditions, only one individual required treatment at the scene for smoke inhalation, thanks to the rapid response of the London Ambulance Service (LAS) crews. No further injuries have been reported at this time.

The brigade has confirmed that although the fire has been subdued, firefighting teams will remain on-site to fully extinguish any remaining flames and to carry out damping down operations. As a result of the incident, road closures have been implemented in the surrounding area, and local authorities are urging the public to avoid the vicinity to facilitate emergency operations.

The closure of High Road Southbound from A598 Ballards Lane (Tally Ho Corner) to A1003 Woodhouse Road / Kingsway, led to traffic build-up and delays. Several London bus routes, including the 13, 112, 125, 134, 221, 263, 383, 460, and the SL10, have been diverted to navigate around the closure.

The LFB’s 999 Control Officers received a total of 13 calls alerting them to the fire, indicating the concern and vigilance of the local community. Crews from Finchley, Hendon, West Hampstead, Barnet, and Kentish Town fire stations were deployed to the scene, alongside a 32-meter turntable ladder from Paddington Fire Station, to combat the fire.

As of now, the cause of the fire remains undetermined. The London Fire Brigade is conducting a thorough investigation to ascertain the origins of the blaze and to assess the extent of the damage caused to the Tally Ho Pub.
