Firefighters are battling yet another blaze at the derelict Ocean Hotel in Sandown for the third time this week and the second time in just over 24 hours.
Crews from Sandown, Shanklin, and Ryde are currently on the scene, with fire engines stationed on both the Esplanade and the High Street. Smoke has been seen billowing from the abandoned property, which has become a frequent target for arsonists.
Firefighters have deployed hose reel jets and connected delivery hoses to hydrants in an effort to control the flames. The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has been regularly called to the Ocean Hotel in response to malicious fires, with previous incidents occurring on Monday and Thursday.
The Ocean Hotel, once a popular destination on the Isle of Wight, has fallen into disrepair and has been the subject of numerous fire-related incidents. The repeated arson attacks have made it a significant concern for local authorities and residents alike.
