Heartbreaking Tributes Paid to Nine-Year-Old Girl Killed in Bexleyheath Bus Crash

Heartfelt tributes have been paid to a nine-year-old girl who tragically lost her life following a collision with a bus in Bexleyheath. The incident, which also involved her five-year-old brother, occurred on Watling Street near the junction with Halcot Avenue at 9:05 AM on August 3.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, and the siblings were taken to the hospital for treatment. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, the young girl sadly passed away on the afternoon of August 5. Her brother was treated as a precaution and is reported to be recovering.

The children were accompanied by a family member at the time of the collision, and their family is now being supported by specialist officers during this difficult time.

In the days following the tragedy, the community has come together to honour the young girl’s memory. Flowers, handwritten notes, and other tributes have been left at the scene, with messages expressing the deep sorrow felt by all who knew her. One note read, “RIP little princess, fly with the angels. Gone too soon. Thinking of you all at this emotional time.” Another simply stated, “Rest in Peace forever young princess. Sleep with the angels.”

The driver of the bus, a man whose identity has not been released, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury through dangerous driving and drug driving. He has been bailed to a date in early November as further enquiries continue.

The Metropolitan Police have urged any witnesses who have not yet come forward to contact them. A spokesperson for the police said: “At 09:05hrs on Saturday, 3 August, police were called to reports of a bus in collision with two children on Watling Street near the junction with Halcot Avenue. A nine-year-old girl was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service with life-threatening injuries. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, she sadly died in the afternoon of Monday, 5 August.”

The police are continuing their investigation, led by the Roads and Transport Policing Command. Witnesses are encouraged to call 101 and quote reference CAD 2309/03AUG if they have any information that could assist with the case.

The tragic loss of such a young life has left the community in mourning, and the heartfelt tributes at the scene of the incident reflect the deep impact this event has had on all those who knew the little girl.
