Detectives have released images of a man they are seeking in connection with a series of sexual assaults that have taken place in the Hackney Marshes area.
The Metropolitan Police have received multiple reports of sexual assaults involving a man targeting lone women, with incidents occurring between March and August of this year. The latest reported offence took place on 7 August.
In each case, the suspect allegedly approached the victims while riding an e-scooter, touching them over their clothing before fleeing the scene. A total of ten separate reports of sexual assault in the area have been made so far.
Detective Constable Lucy Dunwell, from Hackney CID, said, “We understand the fear and concern this has caused in the local community. We are working tirelessly to identify and apprehend the man responsible. Our officers are collaborating closely with Hackney Council to increase patrols in the area to provide reassurance and support.”
DC Dunwell also urged the public to remain vigilant: “Anyone walking, running, or visiting Hackney Marshes is encouraged to keep their phone charged and be aware of their surroundings. In case of an emergency, always dial 999.”
The police have now released images of a man they would like to speak to regarding the investigation. If anyone can help identify him, they are urged to contact the police.
“If you have witnessed or experienced anything suspicious, or if you have been a victim of these assaults, we encourage you to come forward so we can support you and further our investigation,” DC Dunwell added.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the police on 101, quoting CAD 3214/02SEP, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. In emergencies, always call 999.
