A devastating cyberattack on Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) may be the most financially damaging hack in UK history, new research reveals.
Global Production Ground to a Halt
The attack struck in late August, forcing a full IT shutdown. Production stopped across JLR’s worldwide manufacturing plants, including key UK sites in Solihull, Halewood, and Wolverhampton. Dealer systems were also hit, disrupting sales and leaving suppliers scrambling with cancelled or delayed orders amid uncertainty over future output.
Massive Financial Fallout
According to the Cyber Monitoring Centre (CMC), the attack’s financial blow is estimated at a staggering £1.9 billion. More than 5,000 organisations linked to JLR suffered the fallout. The CMC warns total losses could soar between £1.6 billion and £2.1 billion.
