Reality TV star and former glamour model Katie Price was arrested at Heathrow Airport on Thursday evening after returning from Turkey, where she had undergone a £10,000 facelift. The 46-year-old was detained by Metropolitan Police at 7:45 PM after failing to appear at a bankruptcy court hearing last week.
Price, whose head was covered in bandages and black tape following her sixth facelift, was seen being bundled out of a police van at Heathrow police station shortly after her arrest. Despite the circumstances, she was photographed applying lipstick and vaping while seated in the back of the van.
The arrest comes after Price skipped a court date related to her £760,000 bankruptcy proceedings, opting instead to travel to Turkey for cosmetic surgery while staying at a £133-per-night five-star hotel. Her absence from the hearing led to the issuance of an arrest warrant by Judge Burton, who criticized Price for offering only “piecemeal cooperation” and failing to provide basic information regarding her financial affairs.
Price’s boyfriend, JJ Slater, who accompanied her on the trip along with her 22-year-old son Harvey, was left to collect their luggage at the airport following her arrest. Price had reportedly requested that police handle the situation with “dignity and protection” for Harvey, expressing concern that the arrest would be disturbing for him to witness.
In a statement posted on Instagram earlier this week, Price acknowledged the seriousness of her financial situation but expressed frustration over being treated “like a criminal.” She attributed her bankruptcy to “serious mental health issues and breakdowns from PTSD” and stated that she was actively working to pay back her debtors.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Price was remanded into custody at a west London police station and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, August 9.
Price’s recent financial troubles have been well-documented, including the repossession of her £2 million “Mucky Mansion” and her declaration of bankruptcy for a second time in March over an unpaid tax bill. Despite these challenges, Price has remained defiant, insisting that she is not embarrassed by her situation and vowing to continue speaking out against the public scrutiny she has faced.
The arrest adds to a tumultuous period for Price, who has been navigating legal and financial battles while maintaining her presence in the public eye. Her recent trip to Turkey also included another dental procedure, with Price showcasing her new veneers on social media.
As Price prepares to face the court, the public and media attention surrounding her personal and financial struggles shows no sign of waning. Her appearance in court on Friday is expected to draw significant interest as the saga of her bankruptcy continues to unfold.
