Major Incident Declared in Liverpool City Centre as Large Building Shows Signs of Collapse in Massive Fire

A major incident has been declared in Liverpool city centre following a massive fire that has engulfed a substantial building, with reports indicating that the structure is “showing signs of collapse.”

The incident unfolded as a four-storey building, measuring approximately 100 meters by 50 meters, became “well alight,” according to Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service.

In response to the escalating situation, fire crews are actively evacuating nearby buildings due to concerns over the building’s structural integrity. Images circulating on social media depict thick plumes of smoke billowing over Liverpool’s city centre.

Authorities have issued advisories urging people to steer clear of the affected area. Residents in proximity to the incident are encouraged to close windows and doors to avoid exposure to smoke and potential hazards.

Merseyside Police are also on-site, assisting in the evacuation efforts, and road closures and cordons have been implemented to ensure public safety.

Firefighting operations have been organized into four sectors, with firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus to combat the blaze. Thankfully, there have been no reports of casualties thus far.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are still under investigation. Authorities continue to work diligently to bring the situation under control and to prevent any further escalation of the incident
