Man Found Guilty of Murder After Chasing Down Schoolboy

In a harrowing case that has shaken the community, Felipe Figueiredo, 28, has been found guilty of the murder of 15-year-old Dylan Bragger. The tragic incident occurred in Skelmersdale on June 29th of the previous year.

The court heard that the horrific attack unfolded near a footbridge over Digmoor Road, Skelmersdale, around 9 pm that fateful evening. Figueiredo had received messages indicating that his wife’s stolen motorbike had been spotted with two young males in the vicinity. In response to this information, he embarked on a mission to recover the motorbike and locate the individuals involved.

Approximately half an hour later, Figueiredo encountered Dylan Bragger and his cousin. A brief verbal exchange ensued, leading to Figueiredo chasing the two teenagers down an embankment. It was during this pursuit that he fatally stabbed Dylan.

After the brutal attack, Figueiredo left Dylan severely injured in bushes and pursued his cousin away from the scene. He subsequently disposed of the knife used in the assault and returned to his residence.

Dylan’s cousin immediately dialed 999, but by the time paramedics arrived, Dylan had succumbed to his extensive injuries. A post-mortem examination revealed that the teenager had suffered at least 23 knife wounds to various parts of his body, including the head, neck, chest, back, and abdomen. These injuries proved fatal, along with multiple other injuries to his abdomen and both arms.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Fallows expressed his condolences to Dylan’s family and friends, acknowledging the immense tragedy they have endured. He emphasized the importance of addressing knife crime and its devastating consequences, affirming that it has no place in Lancashire.

Senior Crown Prosecutor for CPS North West, Katie Lord, stressed the severity of the crime, highlighting that Figueiredo subjected a teenage boy to a relentless knife attack. Despite Figueiredo’s claims of self-defence, the jury unanimously found him guilty of murdering Dylan Bragger.

Katie Lord reiterated that individuals who resort to violence and knives must face the consequences of their actions, and this case serves as a stark reminder of the fatal consequences of such behaviour.

Felipe Figueiredo is scheduled to be sentenced on Friday, January 26th, at Preston Crown Court.
