A man in his 40s has tragically died following a significant house fire that broke out in the early hours of Saturday morning on Salters Lane, Faversham.
The fire, which started just after midnight at 12:18 AM, prompted a major emergency response. Ten fire engines, a command support unit, and a height vehicle were dispatched to the scene in an effort to control the blaze.
Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, it was confirmed at 11:45 AM that the man had died. His next of kin have been informed.
A spokesperson for Kent Police stated, “A report will now be prepared for the coroner. The investigation to determine the cause of the fire is ongoing at this time.
Tom Edwards, area manager with Kent Fire and Rescue Service, described the incident as a “significant fire” affecting a large residential building. The incident has been scaled back through the night and the fire is under control,” Edwards said. We are looking to investigate the cause of the fire, and that will take the majority of the day as those investigations are just beginning.
As of 10:45 AM, two fire engines remained at the scene, with crews continuing to dampen down hotspots.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service confirmed just after midday, “We can now confirm that a man died at the scene of the house fire in Salters Lane, Faversham. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.”
Authorities have indicated that this is an isolated incident and is not linked to the former Kiln Court care home nearby. Residents are being advised to avoid the area while the investigation continues
