A man has been left seriously injured after falling from a height at the busy Canary Wharf Underground station. The incident occurred at approximately 12:50 PM today (August 6), causing significant disruption and a temporary closure of the station.
Emergency services were swiftly called to the scene, including an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer, and members of the hazardous area response team from the London Ambulance Service (LAS). The man was treated at the scene before being transported to a major trauma centre with serious injuries.
Immediate Response
British Transport Police (BTP) officers arrived at the station at around 1:07 PM following reports of a medical incident. In response to the situation, BTP temporarily closed off the station. Transport for London (TfL) confirmed that the Jubilee line was also closed due to the “customer incident,” leading to significant travel disruptions.
Eyewitness Accounts
Dozens of people inside the station were seen running towards the exits after reports of an officer shouting to “get out as fast as you can,” according to a post on X (formerly known as Twitter). This caused panic among commuters, but the station was later reopened after the situation was brought under control.

A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said, “We were called at 12:50 PM today (6 August) to reports of a person fallen from height at Canary Wharf Underground Station, Bank Street, E14. We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast-response car, an incident response officer, and members of our hazardous area response team (HART). We treated a man at the scene and took him to a major trauma centre.”
