Man jailed after ramming police car with a truck on the M20

A dangerous driver who took a truck in Ashford and then drove it six junctions in the wrong direction of the M20 has been jailed for 22 months. Kevin Andrews, 29, of Barnfield Park in New Ash Green took a Ford Transit Tipper Truck from outside a property in Paul Harman Close, Ashford just after midnight on the morning of Sunday 2 December 2018. The collision caused significant damage to both vehicles and two officers suffered minor injuries. Andrews was arrested and subsequently charged with failing to stop for police, driving without insurance, aggravated vehicle taking without consent and two counts of assault. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 22 months in prison at Canterbury Crown Court on Friday 8 March 2019. Investigating officer, PC Josh Cooper, said: ‘Andrews put himself and the lives of others in danger when he got behind the wheel of that truck. Thanks to the diligence of the officers pursuing him, there were no casualties and he was safely arrested. ‘His complete disregard for others was further highlighted when he rammed the police car after being forced to stop. Thankfully he will now serve time in prison where he can consider the consequences of his a
