Three boat has been destroyed following a fire at a popular tourist spot on the Norfolk Broads.
Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service firefighters were called to the Marsh Road area of Hoveton at around 3 pm on Saturday. Residents were advised to shut their windows and doors due to the large smoke plume emanating from the area near Wroxham.
Firefighting appliances from Wroxham, Sprowston, Carrow, and the swiftwater rescue boat from Carrow attended the scene. Crews wearing breathing apparatus used main jets and hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze.
The fire was brought under control before 5:30 pm, though some crews remained on scene to ensure the area was safe. Photos from the scene reveal significant damage to the boat.
Residents and visitors in the area were impacted by the smoke, prompting the fire service’s advisory to keep windows and doors closed for safety.
