Officers are appealing for information following a serious sexual assault that took place near Wrigley Head in Failsworth, Oldham, yesterday evening (Friday, August 2, 2024).
Incident Details
At approximately 5:55 PM, a man was approached by three men, assaulted, and subjected to a serious sexual assault. The victim is currently receiving support from specialist officers who are prioritizing his well-being and care.
Investigation
Officers believe this was a targeted attack and that there is no ongoing risk to the wider public. Authorities are seeking to speak with three men in relation to this incident. The suspects are described as black men in their 30s, with black and white scarves around their necks and of athletic build. One was wearing jeans, while another had trousers with pockets on.

Detective Inspector Andrew Day from the Oldham District commented:
Our specialist officers are supporting the man involved in this incident and we are doing all we can to provide the appropriate care that he needs at this time. We understand the concern this will raise but we want to reassure everyone that we are continuing to investigate all lines of enquiry to ensure we can find those responsible and remain committed to tackling these crimes. The local community will see an increased police presence in and around the area and I would encourage members of the public to approach our officers if they have any additional concerns.

Police are keen to identify anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident, including those who may have relevant doorbell, dashcam, or CCTV footage.
