The Metropolitan Police launched an investigation after officers forced entry into a property on Reynardson Road, N17, where they discovered the body of Pepita Sakirecili, also known as Pepita Garcia.
Police were alerted to the concern for welfare call by the London Ambulance Service on Monday, January 13. It is believed that Pepita may have died sometime before Christmas, but her cause of death remains unknown.
Man Charged with Preventing a Lawful Burial
As part of the investigation, Dominic Whitton, 40, of Reynardson Road, N17, has been charged with preventing a lawful burial. He remains under police investigation while authorities continue their inquiries into Pepita’s death.
Police Appeal for Information
Detective Inspector Barry Hart of the Metropolitan Police Specialist Crime Unit is urging anyone who knew Pepita to come forward with any background information that could help investigators.
**”Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding Pepita’s death and we are appealing for information from anyone who knew Pepita.
“We are keen to hear from anyone who may be able to provide any background on her life. We would like to build a picture as to what may have happened to Pepita.”**
Appeal for Dashcam Footage and Taxi Driver Witness
Officers are also asking for mobile phone or dashcam footage taken in Reynardson Road between October 16, 2024, and January 31, 2025.
Detectives are particularly interested in tracing a taxi driver who drove Pepita to her home in August 2024.
“We believe the driver was concerned about her welfare after seeing Pepita struggling to lift building supplies she had purchased. The driver may have recorded Pepita on their mobile phone, and we would like to speak with them.”
