Police Chase Leads to Arrest and Recall to Prison on M25 near Dartford Crossing

In a significant operation this morning, armed officers successfully intercepted a vehicle on the M25, leading to the arrest of a man and his subsequent recall to prison.

The Incident

The chase took place on the M25 anti-clockwise carriageway near the Dartford Crossing towards Essex. Tactical Pursuit And Containment (TPAC) techniques were employed by firearms units to stop the vehicle, a BMW, which was subsequently pulled over onto the hard shoulder.

Arrest and Charges

The driver, a 37-year-old man from Sittingbourne, was arrested on suspicion of drug-driving. Additionally, he was wanted for recall to prison. The Kent Police confirmed that the man remains in custody awaiting transfer back to prison.

Police Statement

A police spokesman provided details of the operation, stating that the arrest occurred around 9.30 AM. Despite the presence of armed officers, the police clarified that it was not an armed response situation.

Aftermath and Public Safety

A photo shared by the Kent Roads Policing account on social media platforms depicted the BMW next to a police car, highlighting the swift response of the law enforcement agencies. The operation was conducted with a high emphasis on public safety, especially considering the busy nature of the M25 and the proximity to the Dartford Crossing.

This incident underscores the effectiveness of the police in dealing with high-risk situations on major roadways. The successful interception and arrest not only removed a potentially dangerous driver from the road but also ensured the swift execution of a recall-to-prison order. The operation is a testament to the coordinated efforts of various police units in managing road safety and Policing.
