Police Launch Manhunt for Stoke Newington Murder Suspect: Have You Seen Kamar Williams?

Detectives investigating the fatal stabbing of a man in Hackney have named Kamar Williams, 33, as a person of interest in their ongoing inquiry.

Kamar Williams, born on January 21, 1991, resides in the Isle of Dogs, E14, and is known to frequent areas in east London and south-east London. The public is urged NOT to approach him. If seen, please call 999 immediately. Information on his whereabouts can be shared with the incident room at 0208 345 3715, quoting Operation Brooktunnel.

Incident Details

The investigation, led by Detective Chief Inspector Mark Rogers of the Met’s Specialist Crime (Homicide) Command, follows the fatal stabbing of Derek Neil Thomas. Police were called at approximately 23:05hrs on Tuesday, July 30, to reports of a man suffering a stab injury in Northwold Road, N16.

Despite the best efforts of officers and the London Ambulance Service, Derek Neil Thomas, aged 53 and a resident of Stoke Newington, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

A post-mortem examination held at Poplar Mortuary on Thursday, August 1, determined the cause of death to be a stab wound to the chest.

Arrests and Appeals for Information

Today, Saturday, August 3, a 30-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and remains in custody.

Detectives are appealing to anyone with information that could assist the investigation to contact the incident room on 0208 345 3715, via 101, or on social media @MetCC, quoting CAD 8517/30Jul.

Information can also be provided anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
