A week after a shooting in Hackney, which left a nine-year-old girl critically injured and three men wounded, detectives continue to seek information and witnesses.

Detective Chief Superintendent James Conway, local policing lead for Hackney and Tower Hamlets, stated, “Our investigation team has been working tirelessly to piece together what happened and to identify the dangerous individual responsible for this shocking and indiscriminate act of violence.”

The investigation has focused on a potential link to Turkish-originating organised criminal networks. The young victim, who was simply having dinner with her family, remains in a critical condition. Detective Conway urged anyone with information to come forward anonymously, emphasising the importance of finding the perpetrator.

“Our young victim remains in a critical condition,” he added. “Specialist family liaison officers continue to support her family through this terribly difficult time.”

The incident occurred around 21:20 on Wednesday, May 29, when a lone motorcyclist fired shots at a restaurant on Kingsland High Street, Dalston. In addition to the nine-year-old girl, three men (ages 37, 42, and 44) were also shot. They have since been discharged from the hospital.

The suspect’s motorbike, a Ducati Monster with a white body, red chassis, and red wheels, was stolen from a Wembley property in 2021. At the time of the shooting, it displayed the registration plates DP21 OXY.

Detective Chief Superintendent Conway appealed directly to the Turkish and Kurdish communities, asking for information about the shooting or events leading up to it. Two images of the suspect motorbike are being reissued, and anyone recognising it is urged to come forward.

Local officers, supported by colleagues from the Met’s Turkish Police Association and specialist firearm officers, have conducted additional patrols over the past week to provide reassurance and a visible presence in the area.

This evening, officers will be in the community conducting a witness appeal. Members of the public are encouraged to share any information that could assist the investigation.
