Rescue operation on the edge of Culver down on the Isle of Wight after two trapped

Emergency services have been mobilised to Culver Down on the Isle of Wight this evening (Monday). Rescue crews from the Coastguard and the Isle of Wight fire and rescue service have been mobilsed after two people have become stuck to on a cliff face of Culver down. Bembridge Coastguard search and Rescue Team , Coastguard Rescue helicopter 175 from Lee on the Solent and a number of fire appliances have been sent to the rescue operation. The Sandown lifeboat has also been tasked to assist with the incident. The Bembridge coastguard were already on the cliff training when the emergency call came in. The rescue helicopter was also out training in the Cowes area. Two men one who is a local in his 20’s and visitors where winched by the coastguard helicopter to the top of Culver after they got into difficulties approximately 150 feet on he faced. The distressed men contacted the police. Who mobilsed the fire service. Due to the rescue from height the aerial ladder was also mobilsed to the incident.
