Southern and Southeastern Services Cancelled After Person Hit by Train Near Beckenham Junction

Southern and Southeastern train services were severely disrupted on Tuesday evening after a person was hit by a train near Beckenham Junction. The incident, which occurred between Herne Hill, Crystal Palace, and Beckenham Junction, led to all lines being blocked for several hours.

An air ambulance was seen landing near Beckenham Junction station, with the main entrance taped off by police as emergency services responded to the situation. The affected train services included Southeastern routes between London Victoria and Orpington, Gillingham, Ashford International, Ramsgate, and Dover Priory, as well as Southern trains between London Bridge and Beckenham Junction.

National Rail advised passengers that all services might be cancelled, delayed, or revised through to the end of the night. Although lines reopened around 9:30 PM, disruptions persisted with many trains still subject to cancellations or delays.

This incident caused significant inconvenience for commuters and travellers in the area. National Rail has reminded passengers of the ongoing impacts and urged them to check the status of their services before travelling.

For those affected by the incident, support is available. The Samaritans can be contacted for a confidential chat at 116 123 from any phone.
