Two years ago, Tesla initiated a pilot scheme that granted charging access to non-Tesla drivers at 15 of its Supercharger network sites. Building on this initiative, the company has now expanded the program to include an additional 27 sites, extending the accessibility of rapid chargers to drivers of compatible electric vehicles.

The move comes as part of Tesla’s broader effort to support the growth of electric vehicle infrastructure across the UK. Although non-Tesla owners will incur a slightly higher charging fee of £8.99, Tesla recently reduced its prices to facilitate broader access to its charging network. Additionally, Tesla offers an annual subscription priced at £90 for non-Tesla users.

While the expansion of Tesla’s charging network presents an exciting opportunity for electric vehicle owners, drivers are reminded to adhere to charging guidelines to avoid fines. Overstaying at Supercharger stations may result in idle fees, with charges ranging from 50p to £1 per minute, depending on station capacity.

As the transition to electric vehicles accelerates, Tesla’s commitment to expanding charging infrastructure underscores the company’s dedication to sustainability and innovation in the automotive industry.
