Two more arrests over fatal shooting in Leyton

Detectives investigating a fatal shooting in Leyton have made two further arrests and released the name of the victim. He has been identified as Grineo Daka, aged 27 from Stratford, east London. His next of kin have been informed. Police were called to the Phoenix Club, Lea Bridge Road, E10 shortly before 3am on Sunday, 7 July to reports of gunshots. Officers, including firearms officers, attended and found Grineo suffering from a gunshot injury. Despite the efforts of officers and the London Ambulance Service (LAS) he was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem examination took place at Walthamstow mortuary on Tuesday, 9 July and gave the cause of death as a single gunshot. Five men and a woman have now been arrested in connection with the inquiry. A 29-year-old-man was arrested today on suspicion of murder at a location in Park Royal, NW10. A 27-year-old-woman was arrested at the same time and location on suspicion of assisting an offender. A 26-year-old-man arrested on suspicion of murder shortly after the shooting has been released under investigation. A 21-year-old-man arrested on the same day, (7 July) was later released with no further action. A 33-year-old-man was arrested on suspicion of murder at Heathrow Airport on Sunday, 7 July, has now been bailed to return to a police station in early August. A 34-year-old-man, was arrested on suspicion of murder on Wednesday, 10 July, he has since been bailed to return on a date in early August. Detectives from the Specialist Crime Command are leading the investigation. Detective Chief Inspector Mark Wrigley who leads the investigation said: “We understand the victim and two other men had gone to the snooker club. The victim was then involved in an altercation with another group and a number of shots were fired. Now a man has lost his life, two others are injured and we need the community to support us and help bring those responsible to justice. “I would appeal to anyone who was in or near the Phoenix Club to pick up the phone and call police now.
