Violent Assault in Folkestone Leads to Jail Sentence

A violent altercation in Folkestone has resulted in the imprisonment of Bradley Cooper, 37, following a serious assault in the town centre.

The incident unfolded on Sandgate Road on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, when Cooper attacked his victim, employing punches and bites during the assault. The victim, innocently traversing through the town, was accosted by Cooper shortly after 9 a.m. The confrontation escalated quickly, with Cooper resorting to physical violence, pinning the victim to the ground as the assault persisted.

This disturbing event followed a previous altercation between Cooper and the victim on Sunday, September 10.

Authorities were promptly notified, and both the police and the South East Coast Ambulance Service rushed to the scene. The victim was swiftly transported to a local hospital for treatment, where he received care for multiple injuries sustained during the attack.

Cooper was apprehended by officers and subsequently admitted to charges including assault, racially aggravated assault, assault of an emergency worker in March 2023, and racially aggravated harassment.

At Canterbury Crown Court on Monday, February 19, Cooper, residing in Langhorne Gardens, received a sentence of two years and eight months behind bars.

Detective Constable Charlotte Tracey, of East Kent CID, condemned Cooper’s actions, labeling the assault as “horrendous” and emphasizing the need for justice in such cases. She stated, “I’m pleased that this violent offender has been jailed, and I hope the prison term imposed for his crimes will serve as a reminder that violence on our streets will not be tolerated.

Tracey also extended gratitude to the witnesses whose testimony was instrumental in securing Cooper’s conviction, underscoring the importance of community cooperation in ensuring accountability for criminal behavior.
