West Tunnel at Dartford Crossing Closed for Five Nights This Week

The west tunnel at the Dartford Crossing will be closed for five consecutive nights this week to facilitate essential maintenance works. The Dartford Crossing, previously known as the Dartford Tunnel until 1991, is a crucial road crossing over the River Thames, connecting Dartford in Kent (south) to Thurrock in Essex (north) via the A282 road.

The closures will commence on Monday night and continue until Saturday morning, with the west tunnel being closed from 10pm to 5.30am each night. Additionally, the east tunnel will also be closed on both Saturday and Sunday night for maintenance.

Closure Schedule:

Monday, August 5 – Tuesday, August 6

Tuesday, August 6 – Wednesday, August 7

Wednesday, August 7 – Thursday, August 8

    • Carriageway and slip road closure for tunnel works
    • Diversion via National Highways roads

Thursday, August 8 – Friday, August 9

    • Diversion via National Highways roads

Friday, August 9 – Saturday, August 10

    • 8pm – 10am
    • Tunnel closure for contraflow works
    • Diversion via Highways England Network

Sunday, August 11 – Monday, August 12

  • A282 Northbound
    • Dartford Crossing East Tunnel
    • 10pm – 5am
    • Tunnel closure for maintenance works
    • Diversion via National Highways network
