A woman has tragically died following a medical incident on a bus in Grove Park.
Emergency services were called to Baring Road at around 3:24pm yesterday (Tuesday, 6 August) after receiving reports of a medical emergency on board a bus.
Upon arrival, responders found the bus cordoned off as they attended to the situation. A fast response car, an incident response officer, and ambulance crews were quickly dispatched to the scene.
A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 3:24pm on Tuesday, 6 August to reports of a medical incident in Baring Road, SE12. We sent resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast-response car, and an incident response officer. The first of our crews arrived at the scene within five minutes.”
Despite the swift response and the best efforts of the emergency services, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident has left the local community in shock. Pictures from the scene show the bus surrounded by emergency service vehicles and cordoned off as paramedics worked to save the woman.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased woman, and it is unclear what caused the medical emergency. Further details are expected to be released following a formal investigation.
Local residents expressed their condolences and concern over the incident. One witness, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “It was a very distressing scene. The emergency services were here very quickly and did all they could, but it’s so sad to hear that the woman did not make it.
