Woman Dies in Dog Attack in County Limerick

A tragic incident unfolded in County Limerick, Ireland, where a 23-year-old woman lost her life following a dog attack. The incident occurred near the village of Ballyneety, approximately 12 kilometres from Limerick city.

  • Emergency Response: Gardaí (Irish police) received a report of the incident at a house late last night, around 23:40. Upon arrival, they discovered the woman inside a gated entrance at the premises.
  • Medical Treatment: Despite immediate medical attention, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body has been taken to University Hospital Limerick for a post-mortem examination.
  • No Other Occupants: There were no other individuals present at the premises during the incident.
  • Living Arrangements: The victim lived in a house situated between Ballyneety and Fedamore, along with her partner and several dogs.
  • Restricted Breed: Authorities seized four dogs suspected to be from a restricted breed. The specific breed has not been disclosed, but it is believed to be one of the breeds subject to restrictions in the Republic of Ireland.
  • Animal’s Fate: The dog believed to be involved in the attack was euthanised.
