A tragic incident occurred in West London as a woman lost her life in a flat fire on Ongar Road, Fulham, in the early hours of August 1.
The blaze broke out just after 4 AM, engulfing the first and second floors of a converted end-of-terrace house. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus managed to rescue a woman from the second floor, but she was sadly pronounced dead shortly after.
The fire was controlled by 4:50 AM, with six fire engines and around 40 firefighters from Fulham, Kensington, Hammersmith, Wandsworth, Tooting, and Chelsea fire stations responding to the scene.
A spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade provided the following statement: “Sadly, a woman has died following a flat fire on Ongar Road in Fulham. Most of a flat across the first and second floors of a converted end-of-terrace house was damaged by fire. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a woman from the second floor. Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The Brigade was called at 0407 and the fire was under control by 0447. Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters from Fulham, Kensington, Hammersmith, Wandsworth, Tooting, and Chelsea fire stations attended the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
