Worthing: High Street Closed Due to Medical Incident

A high street in Worthing was closed today following a medical incident that required the intervention of an air ambulance. The incident prompted a significant response from emergency services, including Sussex Police, South East Coast Ambulance Service (Secamb), and Kent Surrey Sussex Air Ambulance.

Incident Details

The high street was closed from Waitrose to Chatsworth Road as paramedics and officers attended to the situation. Sussex Police confirmed the closure was necessary to allow emergency services to deal with the medical emergency safely.

Emergency Response

Paramedics and police officers were seen entering Bathscene, a kitchen and bathroom shop, where the incident occurred. Police tape was erected along the road and around the business to secure the area and manage the situation.

Air Ambulance Deployment

An air ambulance landed in Steyne Gardens at approximately 12:30 PM and remained on the scene until around 2:30 PM. The presence of the air ambulance underscored the seriousness of the medical incident.

Community Impact

The road closure caused some disruption to local businesses and traffic, but residents and visitors cooperated with authorities to ensure that emergency services could operate without hindrance.

Official Statements

Both Sussex Police and Secamb have been contacted for more information regarding the nature of the medical incident and the condition of the individual involved. Further details are expected to be released as the situation is clarified.

Ongoing Investigation

Emergency services have since reopened the road, but the investigation into the incident is ongoing. Authorities are urging anyone with information or who may have witnessed the event to come forward and assist with the inquiry.
