Police Officers injured during response to Wandsworth pub fight

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after three officers were injured during a response to a large pub fight in Wandsworth. Police were called 9.30pm on Sunday, 13 May to a pub in East Hill, SW18 following initial reports of two males fighting. Officers attended the scene. Upon arrival officers discovered a large fight in progress involving a group of males who had thrown chairs and glasses and immediately intervened. The scale of the incident led to officers requesting assistance from colleagues in the Territorial Support Group. Taser and CS spray were also deployed. During the incident, three officers sustained injuries including a fractured cheekbone as they arrested the males responsible. All three officers were taken to a south London hospital and have subsequently been discharged. https://youtu.be/UZhjN2aLHO4 Road closures and a crime scene were put in place and have since been removed. Four males, aged 20, 31, 52 and 53 were arrested on suspicion of numerous offences including affray and GBH. They were taken to a south London police station where they remain in custody. Superintendent Peter Gardner, of Wandsworth police, said: “This is a shocking, brutal and unacceptable incident that has resulted in our officers sustaining serious injuries in the course of their duty. I would like to commend the bravery shown by our officers and thank those officers from across the MPS that responded to assist them.
