Man Dies After Being Crushed By Lorry in Guildford

Guildford,Surrey Thursday 3rd December 2015. Emergency services are at the scene of a Collision involving a pedestrian and lorry in Guildford this afternoon. A man has sadly died from his injuries.  The incident happened at around 2.30pm in Onslow Street on the southbound carriageway between York Road and Millbrook, towards the Guildford one-way system near to the FRIARY Shopping Centre. A local man in his 40’s was out Christmas shopping when he was struck by a delivery lorry as it reversed into the shopping centre loading bay. Police set up  traffic diversions and traffic in the area  came to a stand still. stationary traffic tailing back to Ladymead’ at one point. A spokeswoman for South East Coast Ambulance service said “They had sent a number of resources to the scene and The Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance is also attending. Surrey Police said “They received a report of a serious collision in Guildford town centre today. The incident took place in a loading bay off Onslow Street at around 2.30pm and involved a lorry and a pedestrian who is a man believed to be in his 40s. Sadly, the man was declared dead at the scene.” Emergency services including paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance and the air ambulance service were in attendance. An investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident is underway.
