Elderly Pedestrians Injured In Copthorne Van Collision

Police are appealing for witnesses after two pedestrians were seriously injured in a collision in Copthorne. The incident occurred around 9:55 am on Saturday, 18 May, near Francis Court Care Home on Copthorne Bank.

A grey Vauxhall Vivaro van, traveling southbound on a right-hand bend, struck the pedestrians – a 77-year-old local man and a 68-year-old local woman. Both were taken to the hospital for treatment and are currently in stable condition. The driver of the van, an 80-year-old man from Horley in Surrey, was uninjured.

An investigation is underway, and police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has CCTV or dash cam footage to email collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk quoting Operation Wicker.

Officers are particularly interested in hearing from anyone with CCTV covering Copthorne Bank north of the allotments or Redehall Road south of Smallfield village.
