Bermondsey – police officers bitten by dog in axe attack
Two officers were bitten by a dog attack during an axe attack in south east London.
Police attended a property in Dickens Estate on Marine Street in Bermondsey at around 3.20pm yesterday (March 1) as part of an operation.
When they arrived, two were bitten by a dog while another was set upon by a man “armed with axes”, according to police.

A man in his 40s was tasered by police and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder while a dog – believed to be a Cane Corso breed – was seized.
The dog, an Italian breed of mastiff which is not banned, was taken to police kennels.
Two officers are in hospital after being injured by the axe and dog. Their injuries are not life threatening or changing.

A third officer also suffered a minor injury that did not require further treatment.
Stephen Coombes, 43, of Marine Street, Bermondsey, has been charged with attempted murder, being in charge of a dog that caused injury while dangerously out of control, a racially aggravated Public Order Act offence, and harassment to put in fear of violence.
He is expected to appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court this afternoon (March 2).
