Man in Gas Mask Stabs Victim with Screwdriver in Failed Tesco Raid on Kilburn High Road

A man wearing a gas mask has been charged following a violent attempted raid outside Tesco on Kilburn High Road, during which a man in his 40s was stabbed with a screwdriver.

The Metropolitan Police were called to the scene at 10:07am on Tuesday, 15 July, following reports of a disturbance and stabbing involving a sharp pointed object.

Suspect Arrested at Scene

Police arrested Leandro Bruce, 23, of no fixed address, at the scene. He was taken into custody and later charged with:

  • Grievous bodily harm without intent

  • Possession of a sharp pointed article in a public place

  • Common assault

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 16 July.

Victim Hospitalised

The London Ambulance Service confirmed that an ambulance crew, paramedic in a fast response car, and incident response officer were dispatched to the incident.

“We treated a man for a head injury and took him to a local hospital as a priority,” a LAS spokesperson said.
“Another patient with a minor hand injury declined further treatment.”


Investigation Ongoing

Police say the incident began outside the Tesco store on Kilburn High Road, where the suspect was reportedly seen wearing a gas mask. Officers are reviewing CCTV footage and continuing their investigation into the motive and any potential links to prior offences.

“The investigation remains ongoing,” a Met Police spokesperson said. “We are continuing to gather evidence and ask any witnesses to come forward.”
