Woman who Drove the wrong down A331 Three Times the legal Limit is Jailed

A drunk driver who was Three times the legal and caused a serious crash after driving the wrong way down the A331 has been jailed. Sandra Walton of Manor Road was to blame for a four-car pile up back in March while more than twice over the legal limit. Her crash into another car caused a separate collision with two other vehicles. A full investigation suggested she had between 184-243 milligrammes of alcohol  in 100 millilitres of blood at time. The legal limit is 80 milligrammes. The 46 year-old was treated in hospital for emergency treatment after suffering serious injuries. The other drivers had minor injuries. Sergeant Eddie Ryan, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “The consequences that night could have been a lot worse and the driver was lucky that no one else was seriously injured. Driving whilst over the limit is illegal and not to mention extremely dangerous.   I hope the driver has learnt her lesson and that today’s sentence will deter other drivers from putting their lives and the lives of others at risk.” Yesterday (29 November) Sandra Walton pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and driving whilst over the legal alcohol limit at Guildford Crown Court. She faces 10 months in prison and has been disqualified from driving for 3 years and 5 months. She will also have to take an extended re-test.
