A registered sex offender has been locked up for a year after accosting two schoolgirls with a disturbing question. David Blackwood, 58, approached the youngsters on their way home near Bath and asked a sexually explicit question before fleeing the scene.

Blackwood, from Combe Down, pleaded guilty at Bristol Magistrates’ Court on 3 March to sexual communication with a child, breaching the Sex Offenders’ Register, and violating a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. The court handed down a 12-month prison sentence, along with a victim surcharge of £187 and £84 in court costs.
