Quick Justice for Fatal Stabbing

Tragic Attack Caught on CCTV

Police were called to Edington Road, Abbey Wood, on 6 March 2021 after reports of a serious stabbing. Officers and paramedics found Mazaza with a stab wound to his chest. Despite desperate efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

CCTV showed Mazaza, separated from his friends, approach Al-Shihabi and his group. A brief exchange ended with Al-Shihabi stabbing Mazaza. Injured, Mazaza staggered back to his friends before collapsing inside a nearby home.

The entire deadly confrontation lasted only ten seconds. Witnesses saw the attack but refused to help. Detectives used CCTV and door-to-door enquiries but never uncovered a clear motive.

Family Devastated, Police Urge Knife Crime Awareness

Mazaza’s mother: “Mazaza was a much-loved member of our family and community. It is hard to find words for the devastation his sudden and brutal passing has caused. He was full of life, kind, caring, and always joking. I miss him every day.”

Detective Inspector Laura Nelson: “Ten seconds was all it took to destroy a young life and forever change Mazaza’s family. Al-Shihabi’s attack was without justification. We urge anyone carrying a knife to think again—no one wins.”
