Detectives investigating a series of burglaries across Kent have charged five men with conspiracy offences.

Between Wednesday 20 March and Monday 15 April 2024, multiple vehicles were reported stolen during break-ins at locations including Medway, Maidstone, Tonbridge and New Romney.

On Monday 15 April, two cars were stopped by police officers as they travelled towards Chatham and five men were arrested. An investigation is being led by the Kent Crime Squad and the following suspects have all been charged with conspiracy to steal motor vehicles and conspiracy to burgle:

  • Rhys Smith, 29, of Brisley Lane, Ashford
  • Bill Adams, 24, of Elm Grove, Sittingbourne
  • Paul Bristow, 33, of Chilmington Green, Ashford
  • John Adams, 31, of Common Road, Cranbrook

The suspects all appeared before Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 18 April where they were remanded into custody. Their next hearing will be at Maidstone Crown Court on 17 May.
