A suspected burglar has been charged following a report of early morning break-ins and a series of frauds in Maidstone. Kent Police was contacted regarding an attempt to break into a house and theft from a garden shed at an address on Tonbridge Road, in the early hours of 29 March 2020. Reports were also received later that morning that a man used a bank card stolen from a car parked in Tonbridge Road to make purchases at a petrol station on London Road and a newsagents in Upper Fant Road. It was also alleged he used the card to pay for two taxi fares. On Wednesday 15 April, investigators arrested Jason Higgins of Milton Street, Maidstone. The 49-year-old was later charged with burglary, attempted burglary, theft and five counts of fraud. He was released on conditional bail to appear at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on 15 May.
