Emergency services, including the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) and the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance, were mobilized to the Gravity Circus at Glyne Gap Field, Hastings, after a performer fell from a height during a show on Monday evening, August 19th.
The incident occurred around 4:45 pm when a tightrope acrobat, performing a daring high-wire act, lost balance and fell from the rope. The Gravity Circus, known for its excellent ratings and safety record, immediately implemented its emergency protocol as soon as the accident happened.
Gravity Circus management also released a statement regarding the incident: “We can confirm that an accident occurred last night involving one of our tightrope performers during the show. In live entertainment and high-risk performances, accidents can unfortunately happen despite stringent safety measures. Our emergency protocols were immediately enacted, and the performer was promptly taken to the hospital. Our primary concern is the well-being of the performer, their family, the high wire troupe, and our entire circus family. We are closely monitoring the situation and conducting a thorough investigation.”
The spokesperson added that the entire circus community is “deeply touched by the outpouring of support, love, and care shown by our customers and supporters during this difficult time.”
The injured performer remains under close medical observation, and while her injuries are serious, her condition is not believed to be life-threatening.
