Emergency services rushed to the scene last night after a vehicle ploughed into a shopfront at Hamilton Local on Hamilton Parade, Groveley Road, Feltham

and burst into flames.

The dramatic incident unfolded just after 9pm on Wednesday, April 9, sending plumes of smoke billowing into the air as the vehicle crashed directly into the front of the local convenience store. Shocked residents watched as the car, already alight, came to a halt partially inside the premises, triggering concerns for the safety of those nearby.

Footage from the scene shows heavy smoke pouring from the vehicle as its rear lights flickered, surrounded by debris from the shop’s smashed entrance. The impact caused significant damage to the storefront and nearby signage.

The London Fire Brigade and Metropolitan Police were quickly on the scene, with firefighters tackling the blaze and securing the area. A source for the London Fire Brigade confirmed the vehicle was “well alight” on arrival and that firefighters worked rapidly to extinguish the flames and prevent further damage to the building.

Thankfully, no serious injuries have been reported, though emergency crews assessed individuals at the scene for smoke inhalation and shock.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that a full investigation is underway. At this stage, the cause of the crash remains unclear, though officers have not ruled out mechanical failure or driver error. It is not yet confirmed whether the incident is being treated as accidental or deliberate.

A police soource said:

“Officers were called to reports of a vehicle in collision with a shop at Hamilton Parade, Groveley Road, Feltham. The vehicle was alight on arrival. Emergency services attended and the fire was brought under control. Enquiries into the circumstances remain ongoing.”

The area was cordoned off while crews worked to make the scene safe and assess structural damage to the shop.

Local residents have expressed shock, with one witness telling reporters:

“It sounded like an explosion. I looked out and saw flames and smoke pouring out of the shop. People were shouting and running across the road.”

Hamilton Local remained closed on Thursday morning as authorities continued to assess the damage. Drivers are advised to avoid the area while investigations continue and the scene is cleared.
