Police and HM Coastguard rushed to Culver Down this afternoon (Thursday) following a report of concern for welfare.
Concerns were raised at around 16:00 after members of the public enjoying the East Wight beauty spot became worried about the welfare of an individual near the cliff edge.
Coastguard crews from nearby Bembridge and several Police units from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary were called to the scene, rendezvousing in the car park near The Culver Haven Inn.
Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 175 was scrambled from Lee-On-Solent, and Bembridge RNLI launched both its lifeboats. Fortunately, the additional resources were not needed as the individual, a female, was located by Police shortly before 16:30. Consequently, both Helicopter 175 and Bembridge RNLI stood down after around 10 minutes on the scene.
WightSAR was also tasked but stood down en route.
The police escorted the woman away from the cliff edge, taking her to a nearby Police van for her safety.
