A 43-year-old man has been apprehended by police after allegedly stealing a mobile crane and attempting to use it in a daring cash machine theft at a local supermarket in Barnham, West Sussex.

The incident unfolded when authorities received a report of a small crane being stolen from a building site on Yapton Road around 2:15 am on Tuesday. In response, officers were dispatched to nearby cash machines to investigate further. Their efforts led them to a Co-op store in Barnham, where an aggravated burglary was in progress.
